  • 1483 > Richard III and Queen Anne are crowned at Westminster


  • 1516 > Martin van Dorp inaugurates his summer course at the University of Louvain with a retractation of his anti-Erasmian views, and gives credit to More for this " conversion "


  • 1517 > More is appointed to arbitrate the dispute between the Parish of St Vedast and the Saddlers' Guild


  • 1533 > At Ferrara, death of Ludovico Ariosto (b. 1474)


  • 1535 > On Tuesday, at about 9 am on Tower Hill, next to the Tower, execution of Thomas More. Henry VIII having commuted to decapitation the traitor's form of torture. His head replaces Fisher's at the top of London Bridge


  • 1539 > More's son-in-law Giles Heron is sent to the Tower (executed 4 August 1540)


  • 1544 > At Paul's Cross John Heywood the playwright -- More's nephew through his wife Joan Rastell, and John Donne's uncle -- recants and accepts Henry VIII as Head of the Church (He will die in exile for the Catholic faith)
